Stuff I Write: A Poem about Him

Muscle Memory
By Susan Baba

I miss
you
Miss feeling solid and secure in something stronger than myself
Even if I had been everything
Would that have been enough?
Would that have made you stay?
Now, I feel your absence as I never thought I would
Like amputation gone wrong
With muscle memory winning over
I still feel the tingle of arms holding me tight
Still feel the breath of you
Your closeness
The sensation of something
Reminding me that "no longer here"
Does not mean you are gone
